from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wolf von Wirsberg was the Brandenburg captain in Hof .

During the Schmalkaldic War on March 8, 1547, according to the chronicler Enoch Widmann, opposing troops invaded Hof and robbed the town of 3000 guilders . On March 16, 50 horsemen led by Captain Wolf von Wirsberg routed the opposing troops. Margrave Albrecht Alcibiades imposed a fine of 5,000 guilders because the city had surrendered to the enemy too lightly. After the siege of Hof in 1553 during the Second Margrave War , the Principality of Kulmbach passed to Margrave Georg Friedrich in 1557 , who reinstated Wolf von Wirsberg as captain of Hof. He took care of the restoration of the Hof Palace .
