Wurmb is the name of an old Thuringian-Saxon noble family . The form of the name changed between Worm, Wurm, Wormb and Wurmb.

The family belonged to the Saxon and Stolberg vassals and is first mentioned in a document with eques ( knight ) Conradus Worm in 1173. The uninterrupted line of trunks begins in 1250 with Dietricus Worm . Headquarters u. a. in Hohnstein's Klein- and Großfurra (1415 to 1945), Klettstedt , Crimderode Wernrode , Wolkramshausen , Sundhausen , Rüxleben as well as in Merseburg's St. Ulrich bei Müchi and Leiha Since April 5, 1838, a branch of the family has been called Wurmb von Zinck (from 1786 to 1945 on Witzschersdorf ) on the basis of a name and coat of arms association approved by the Prussian crown .

The family coat of arms , from which the oldest known representations from wax seals of the 14th and 15th centuries come, shows a winged, red-armored and tongue-tongued, golden (gold-green) dragon (lindworm) on a blue shield; on the helmet with blue and gold covers the dragon.

The approximately 300 year old slogan reads: "Nil me fatalia terrent" (I am never afraid of adversity).
