Günther Albrecht Karl (Carl) August Wurmb von Zinck (born May 11, 1795 in Sondershausen , † June 19, 1890 in Weißenfels ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , castle captain of Merseburg and entrant on Witzschersdorf .

Life

origin

He came from the old Thuringian noble family von Wurmb . His father was the black castle-sonderhausische Kammerjunker Karl Friedrich Ernst von Wurmb (1769-1828) and his mother Wilhelmine, née von Wilke (1771-1844). Wurmb had been a cadet in Dresden since 1807 and was employed on November 14, 1810 as a second lieutenant in the hussar regiment "Prince Johann" of the Saxon Army . With the regiment he took part in the campaign against Russia on the side of Napoleon in 1812/13 . It was still used on June 20, 1815 in the battle near Namur . Wurmb then entered Prussian service on August 6, 1815 , was employed in the 12th Hussar Regiment , with a patent from 1810. In 1817 he was promoted to prime lieutenant and in 1822 to captain and squadron chief and in 1840 to major . In 1838 he inherited the Witzschersdorf manor . He had been a regular staff officer since 1842 , and in 1847 was initially ad interim and in 1848 commander of his regiment. In 1849 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and in 1851 to colonel . At the beginning of 1852 he received the Royal Prussian Order of St. John . The farewell with pension was granted to him in 1853, while awarding the character as a major general . In the same year he received the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class received with a bow. In 1857 Wurmb was put up for disposal with a pension . On May 9, 1885, he was given the character of Lieutenant General and shortly before his death on March 25, 1890, he was given permission to wear the uniform of the 12th Hussar Regiment.

Wurmb was a knight of honor of the Order of St. John .

In 1821 he married Wilhelmine Christiane von Hopffgarten in Großfurra . She was the daughter of the Oberlandeshauptmann August Friedrich Ernst von Hopffgarten , Herr auf Schlotheim . The marriage resulted in two sons:
