Friedrich Ludwig Adolph von Wurmb , also Adolf von Wurmb (* July 12, 1794 in Wiednitz , † April 23, 1854 in Dresden ) was a royal Saxon colonel and the commander and director of the Dresden barracks .

family

He came from the Wolkramshausen line of the Saxon-Thuringian noble family von Wurmb , in which many family members had embarked on a military career. His father was the royal Saxon lieutenant colonel Friedrich Leopold von Wurmb (1757-1818). His mother Wilhelmine geb. Freiin d'Orville von Löwenclau , died in 1800 when he was only six years old. At that time Adolph's father was a prime lieutenant in the Dresden battalion of the Prince Anton Regiment and later took part in the Napoleonic Wars until 1815. After the commander Colonel Friedrich Christian von Liebenau, as a lieutenant colonel, he was the second highest officer of the 3rd Saxon Line Infantry Regiment "Prince Friedrich August". In 1816 he switched to the royal raft inspection as a timber manager. He had three siblings, including the later Imperial Austrian Lieutenant Field Marshal Heinrich (1800–1863).

He was later married to Liddy geb. from Prenzel. The couple had five children, including the later Royal Saxon Major General Ludwig Georg von Wurmb (1834-1909). Adolph's widow Liddy outlived her husband by more than 30 years.

Live and act

As a 16-year-old Adolph von Wurmb took part in Napoleon's campaign against Russia and was wounded twice. In 1816 he was Sous Lieutenant in the Leib Grenadier Regiment. On June 9, 1817 he was promoted to Premier-Lieutenant and moved to Königstrasse 85. In 1823 Adolph von Wurmb became Adjutant of the Duke of Saxony, Major General Prince Friedrich August in his brigade staff promoted.

At the same time as his promotions, he changed apartments in Dresden: He was initially registered in 1816 at Rähnitzgasse 76, 1822 at Pirnaische Gasse 687, 1824 at Breite Gasse 65, 1830 at Klosterthor 2. 1834 at Schössergasse 358.

In 1839, von Wurmb became the commandant and director of the Dresden barracks. He will remain in this position until the end of his life. At the same time, he and his family moved into a barracks apartment in Neustadt in the former infantry barracks on the Elbe . In 1844 he was promoted to major and in 1847 to lieutenant colonel. On January 18, 1849, Adolph von Wurmb received his promotion to colonel. At that time his apartment was at the Dresden Infantry Barracks at Ritterstrasse 1, where he lived until the end.
