Friedrich Christian von Liebenau (* 1764 in Pretsch , † September 18, 1832 probably in Zwickau ) was a royal Saxon colonel .

Life

After joining the Saxon Army, von Liebenau held the rank of cadet in 1778 after joining the Dresden Cadet House . In 1781 he was a cadet corporal and in 1783 was promoted to ensign in the “Zanthier” infantry regiment , where he also received his officer license as a Sousleutnant in 1791 . As such, he also took part in his regiment's campaign in 1796 and in the battle near Wetzlar . During this campaign he became adjutant of a grenadier battalion.

In 1797 von Liebenau was promoted to prime lieutenant, regimental adjutant in 1801 and captain in 1803 . In 1806 he took part in the Napoleonic Wars as such . In 1809 von Liebenau was promoted to major . In the same year he was wounded in the Battle of Wagram against Austria and was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Military Order of St. Henry for his bravery . When the Saxon army was reorganized in early 1810, von Liebenau was appointed commander of a grenadier battalion, which was also formed by grenadiers from the regiments "Prince Friedrich August" and "Prince Klemens" in Wittenberg .

With this battalion von Liebenau took part in the Russian campaign in 1812 as part of the 7th Army Corps .
