Family coat of arms of those of Stein zu Lausnitz

The Stein zu Lausnitz family belongs to the Eastern nobility with the parent company Lausnitz near Neustadt an der Orla.

history

The family first appeared in documents in 1117 with Dudo von Stein . Siegfried von Stein was enfeoffed with Rode Castle in 1301. His grandson Kaspar was enfeoffed with the Lausnitz family estate near Neustadt an der Orla in 1429 . Christoph Heinrich acquired the Wirsitz estate with Hasla in 1620 and donated what would later become the Kochberger Line, while his younger brother Friedrich Wilhelm continued the Lausnitzer Line. In addition to the line to Lausnitz, there were also the lines to Kochberg (1733 to 1938) and Braunsdorf (from 1827 to approx. 1850).

The genealogist Johann Gottfried Biedermann deals in his genealogy about the Vogtland knighthood with this family beginning in the 16th century. He outlines the ancestral line of Wolf Christoph von Stein auf Lausnitz and Miesitz (1668–1731) and his son, who both were in the service of the Bayreuth margraves during the lifetime of the publisher Biedermann and held important positions at the Plassenburg . Wolf Christoph was also bailiff of Schauenstein and Helmbrechts .
