Mengersdorf (noble family)
The von Mengersdorf family is an old Franconian noble family .
history
origin
The von Mengersdorf family started in the eponymous town of Mengersdorf . Mengersdorf is now part of the Mistelgau community in the Bayreuth district in Upper Franconia . The family has been documented with Otto von Mengersdorf since 1383. The manor was burned down in the Peasants' War in 1525 and apparently destroyed again in the Second Margrave War (1552–54). When the family died out in 1601, the estate was sold to the von Aufseß family . The von Aufseß have been sitting at the neighboring Truppach Castle for a long time.
The manor Mengersdorf is still recognizable today in built-up remains. The current property consists of two gabled houses, which are connected by a transept.
distribution
Otto von Mengersdorf defended Leienfels Castle as an episcopal bailiff during the Peasants' War in 1525 , which was badly damaged.
In addition to the headquarters of Mengersdorf, the Mengersdorfer are demonstrably on the lordship and castle of Wadendorf (1590–1601).
The von Mengersdorf family is part of the imperial knighthood and is organized in the knight canton of Gebürg .
coat of arms
With Siebmacher the shield is divided by a tooth cut, split at the top; in front a blue rose in silver , behind in red a silver rose; below in blue a red rose. The flight repeats the colors alternately, with two roses in the upper part of the flight and a rose between the wings.
The coat of arms of the immediately neighboring von Truppach family is largely identical to the coat of arms of the Mengersdorfer - this usually indicates a common descent of both families. The village of Truppach now also belongs to the Mistelgau community .
