Geilsdorf (noble family)

The von Geilsdorf family was a noble family from Vogtland and Franconia .

history

The name-giving headquarters is in Geilsdorf , today incorporated into Weischlitz . The rule there in the 16th century extended u. a. to the neighboring town of Schwand . The family owned a family crypt in the Geilsdorf church. The family is also mentioned in the story of Tobertitz near Reuth . As part of the imperial Franconian knighthood, it was organized in the knight canton of Gebürg (e.g. 1529). At the beginning of the 17th century the family owned the Hofeck residence . The last owner of Hofeck was Christoph von Geilsdorf, who died on February 5, 1618 as the last of his family.
