history

The village was first mentioned in documents in 1328 as "Tobertiz". In this document, goods and pensions for the German House in Plauen were confirmed. The place name is of Slavic origin and has the meaning: clan settlement . In 1418 there was the spelling "Toberticz". In 1421 the village was called "Toberticz" and also "Doberditz". The current spelling has been documented since 1506. In the 16th century , the manorial rule over the place lay partly with the manors Leubnitz , Rodau , Rößnitz , Tobertitz and as an official village to the office of Plauen . In the 18th century, Tobertitz was partly subordinate to the manors Rodau, Tobertitz, Rößnitz and Kloschwitz and as an official village to the Plauen office. Tobertitz has always been parish to Rodau.

The Tobertitz manor can be traced for the first time in 1583. It was owned by the von Feilitzsch family as early as the 15th century , followed by the von Tettau family . On July 17, 1775, August Heinrich von Schönfels (* August 2, 1723 in Reuth, † February 26, 1798 in Reuth), Lord of Reuth , Rodau and Tobertitz, bought the Tobertitz manor from Christoph Friedrich von Tettau. Tettau had secured bill debts with his estate, which were now redeemed. On February 5, 1863 August Ferdinand von Schönfels (born January 19, 1799 in Tobertitz, + February 27, 1879 in Ruppertsgrün) sold the Tobertitz manor for 73,000 thalers to Hans Otto von Wolfersdorf and withdrew to the Ruppertsgrün family estate . Subsequently, Herr von Biedenfeld owned the Tobertitz manor , then a Horst and from 1911 Dr. Klügel. Tobertitz belonged to the Electoral Saxon and Royal Saxon Office of Plauen until 1856 . In 1856 the place was affiliated with the Plauen court office and in 1875 with the Plauen administration . After the Kingdom of Saxony joined the German Customs Union , 284 residents were counted in 1834, their number rose to 368 by 1910. In 1964, 289 people lived in the village.

In 1952 all of the manor's farm buildings were demolished and only the 18th century mansion remained. The renovated building is currently used as a residential building. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the Tobertitz community came to the Plauen-Land district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). On January 1, 1974, Tobertitz was incorporated into Reuth. As a district of Reuth, Tobertitz belonged to the Saxon district of Plauen from 1990, which was added to the Vogtland district in 1996. On January 1, 2017, the municipality of Reuth was incorporated into Weischlitz with Tobertitz and all other districts.
