history

The place Pirk was first mentioned in 1378 as "Pyrk". Already before 1301 a weir system existed in the neighboring village of Türbel on a spur tip near the confluence of the Triebelbach in the White Elster, which served to secure the trade route Leipzig - Plauen - Hof . This is still preserved today as a ruin. A knight's seat from 1445 is proven directly in the village of Pirk. After its division, two outworks ("upper and lower Bergk") were found in 1542 , which were subordinate to the fortress Türbel. These were later combined into a manor . In the first half of the 16th century, the von Sack family sold their property to the von Beulwitz family , from whom it came to the von Reitzenstein family in the second half of the 16th century . After the Thirty Years' War , the von Tettenbach family owned the Pirk manor, which was followed at the end of the 17th century by the lords of Naundorf and in 1748 by the middle-class Hüttner family. The current buildings were built around 1753. Mining was carried out in Pirk on the road to Weischlitz and in the "Leiten". This can still be seen in the mouth holes to this day.

The place Pirk belonged to the lordship of the manor local Pirk. Ecclesiastically, it has always belonged to Geilsdorf . Pirk was subject to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Voigtsberg until 1856 . In 1856 the place was affiliated with the Plauen court office and in 1875 with the Plauen administration . On November 1, 1874, the “Pirk” station on the Plauen – Cheb railway north of Türbel opened. Between 1935 and 1938 the dam of the Pirk dam was built east of the village . In 1938 the construction of the Elstertalbrücke Pirk began for what is now known as the A 72 motorway. However, due to the Second World War , work was stopped in 1940 and the bridge was only completed 50 years later after German reunification in 1990.

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Pirk and its district of Türbel became part of Plauen-Land in the Chemnitz district (renamed Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). On January 1, 1957, Pirk and Türbel were incorporated into Großzöbern . Since 1990 Pirk has belonged to the municipality of Großzöbern in the Saxon district of Plauen, which was added to the Vogtland district in 1996. On January 1, 1994, the municipality of Großzöbern merged with six other municipalities to form the municipality of Burgstein , which in turn was incorporated into the larger municipality of Weischlitz on January 1, 2011. Since then, Pirk and Türbel have been part of Weischlitz.
