history

The Rodersdorf Church

The village group was probably founded during the settlement of the Vogtland by the Sorbs in the 7th and 8th centuries. They were followed by settlers from Saxony , Thuringia and Bavaria in the middle of the 10th century . The first documentary mention of the air mill and of Rodesdorfh took place in 1266 by the lords of Straßberg . At the end of the 13th century the first church was built, which was partially replaced by a new building in the 17th century after a lightning strike. In 1482 a knight's seat was mentioned in Rodersdorf , the first owners of which were called von Röder . Around 1485 the manor was divided into the upper and the lower manor. The parishes of Rodersdorf and Thossen were merged in 1538. With regard to the manorial rule , Rodersdorf belonged to the manors Rodersdorf above and below Teil, Schwand and, as an official village, to the office of Plauen . Around 1764 Rodersdorf was under the two local manors and the Schwand manor. The manor Rodersdorf upper part was owned by the von Seydewitz family in the 17th century, and by the Hüttner family in the 18th century. This was followed by the Müller family in 1783 and shortly afterwards Erdmann Wilhelm von Falkenstein. These were followed by Messrs Porst in 1789. From 1885 the Dietze family owned the manor Rodersdorf upper part until 1945. After a fire in 1902 the farm buildings were rebuilt. The manor Rodersdorf lower part belonged to the Lords of Röder until the beginning of the 17th century. The following owners were Hans Joachim von Seydewitz (from 1606), the von Posseck brothers (from 1634), the von Gößnitz family (from 1658), the Baroness von Stein (from 1734) and the mayor Hübschmann (from 1754). In the 19th century, the lower part of the Rodersdorf manor belonged to Mr. Schönfels (from 1803), Friedrich Wilhelm Michaelis (from 1869) and then the Böhme family, who owned it until 1945.

Rodersdorf belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Plauen until 1856 . In 1856 the place was affiliated with the Plauen court office and in 1875 with the Plauen administration . In the course of the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone from 1945 onwards , the Dietze family as owners of the Rodersdorf upper part of the manor and Karl Böhme as the owner of the lower part of the Rodersdorf manor were expropriated. The upper part of the manor was handed over to the Rodersdorf community in 1951, which used it as a village school between 1956 and 1966. It then served as the municipal office and until 1994 as the LPG office . It has been empty since then. The manor in the lower part, however, was converted into a state-owned property after the expropriation . Since 1997 it has been used as a private farm.

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Rodersdorf became part of Plauen-Land in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Plauen from 1990 and became part of the Vogtlandkreis in 1996. Since 1992 Rodersdorf was part of the Weischlitz administrative community . This ended with the incorporation of Rodersdorf into Weischlitz on January 1, 1994.
