Weisman Art Museum

The Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis was founded in 1934 with a focus on 20th century American art . It houses over 17,000 exhibits, including works by Roy Lichtenstein , James Rosenquist , but also early 20th century artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe and Marsden Hartley , as well as various ceramics and other contemporary works of art.

Since 1993, the museum named after Frederick R. Weisman has been located on the banks of the Mississippi River in a building designed by the Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry . The building with its idiosyncratic facade made of stainless steel offers visitors an educational and relaxing experience. The Weisman is part of the University of Minnesota Association and is also open to the public.
