Further education database Saar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The further education database Saar was developed under the leadership of the Chamber of Labor of the Saarland in cooperation with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) as part of the SaarLernNetz. The SaarLernNetz is one of over 70 networks that have been funded in the program “Learning Regions - Funding for Networks” of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research with funds from the federal government and the European Social Fund (EU).

The funding of the project phase of the SaarLernNetz, in the context of which the further education database Saar was developed, began in November 2002 and ended in May 2006. Since June 1, 2006, the Saarland Chamber of Labor has continued to operate the database as publisher in regular operation. Technical support will continue to be provided by the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence. Since the beginning of 2015, the technical support and further development of the further education database Saar has been ensured by the official spin-off of the research center, Minervis GmbH.

Start of the further education database Saar

After three years of development, the Saar further education database was launched on September 7, 2005. On this occasion, a celebratory kick-off event took place in the Chamber of Labor in Saarbrücken. The keynote speakers included Jürgen Schreier, then Minister of Education in Saarland, the chairman of the DFKI management board, Wolfgang Wahlster, and the chairman of the Chamber of Labor, Hans Peter Kurtz . At this point in time, the database contained around 2500 offers from 87 regional training providers.

The further education database Saar is an integral part of the further education advice of the Chamber of Labor of the Saarland . Use of the database is free of charge for providers and users.

In 2015, Minervis GmbH restarted the Saar training database.

Current status

Central contact point on the Internet for those looking for education

More than 410 training providers are currently adding their course program to the database (as of May 2016; April 2008: 220 training providers). The database has thus developed into the central information point on the Internet when it comes to searching for further training in Saarland. The database allows you to search for professional as well as general and political training. The search in this regionally oriented database is supplemented by direct access to e-learning and distance learning offers as well as educational offers from all over Germany. Thanks to the cooperation with InfoWeb further education , all offers from the further education database Saar can also be found nationwide via the meta search engine of InfoWeb.

With the restart in 2015 and the completion of the development of the “WDB-Live” marketing tool, the offers can also be found locally on the provider side. Each education provider can use it to present their own offers live on their own homepage in a qualitatively selectable manner. This means that the range of the offers can be further increased through decentralized and target group-oriented offers.

Quality of information

The structure of the database and the type of search results display are based on the high requirements set by Stiftung Warentest and PAS 1045 . The further education database Saar received the award "Good (2.1)" in the tests of further education databases in 2007 and 2009 by Stiftung Warentest. In January 2017 published a new test, the further education database Saar received the quality rating "Good (2.4)".

The contents of the database

  • The database not only stores all types of courses and further training measures, but also offers its own provider and person management. The further education database Saar thus combines a course, a provider and a person database under one roof.
  • Up to 40 different pieces of information can be entered for courses , thus fulfilling the requirements of DIN PAS 1045 and the requirements of Stiftung Warentest. In order to adequately describe a course, however, only ten mandatory information are required. For all other information, the provider himself decides whether he wants to enter it or not.
  • In the provider database you can find more detailed information about the educational institutions that have discontinued their courses.
  • In the personal database, the address and contact details of lecturers, contact persons for events and those responsible for the educational institutions are listed.

The data entry

The further education database Saar offers two different ways of entering the data:

  1. Online entry via the back office : Education providers who have registered for the Saar further education database receive a login consisting of a username and password that allows them to independently enter data via the Internet. With the help of this login, course, personal and educational institution data can be processed via the so-called back office of the database.
  2. Importing data: Instead of entering data manually via the back office, the data can also be imported. The import takes place via a predefined XML interface.
