The Wells Fargo Tower , formerly the Norwest Bank Tower , is an office building in Colorado Springs , Colorado . It is 75 meters (247 ft ) high and has 16 floors. It is the tallest building in the city and the tallest building in Colorado outside of the Denver metropolitan area. It belongs to the Palmer Center Complex. After it was planned by the well-known architects Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates in cooperation with Klipp Colussy Jenks Dubois, the building was completed in 1990 under the name Norwest Bank Tower. After large parts of Wells Fargo were rented, the name was changed to Wells Fargo Tower in June 2000.
The facade was clad in acid-etched concrete to mimic the appearance of limestone. The lobby is reminiscent of the local Antlers Hotel with numerous architectural accents such as vaulted ceilings and granite floors. The building is also seen as a homage to earlier architecture.
