World record for the fastest motorcycle circumnavigation of Australia

course

The official route for the record circumnavigation of Australia is National Highway 1 , which runs through every major city except Hobart . Both the starting point on the route and the direction (counterclockwise or clockwise) can be freely selected. The naming of this official route was necessary because some drivers had covered different distances in the circumnavigation. The first circumnavigation of Australia by motorcycle goes back to a bet between two Americans, the entrepreneur Frank Wheeler (aka Big Frank) and the record producer Julian Grant with a stake of US $ 20,000. Frank Wheeler started the circumnavigation in July 1972 on a 125 cm³ Honda with a measured time of 21 days and 0 hours.
