The GTR 1000 is a sports touring motorcycle from the Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki .

The GTR 1000 is characterized by good weather protection through large full fairing , excellent passenger comfort, very good brakes and standard cases.

The GTR 1000 was sold in Germany from 1986 to 2004 and offered on the American market as the Kawasaki ZG-1000 Concours.

In 1994 the wheels, brakes, seat and instruments were revised.

The Kawasaki GTR 1000 holds the world record for the fastest motorcycle circumnavigation of Australia , in October 1987 Rich Willey and Gary Van Straten each achieved the 15,508 kilometers on a GTR 1000 in 6 days, 17 hours and 6 minutes, breaking Ross Atkins' 1982 Record set up on a Kawasaki Z 1300 .
