history

KR 250 without casing

Toni Mang succeeded in 1981 in winning the world championship title in the classes up to 250 and up to 350 cm³ of the motorcycle world championship with the KR 250 and the KR 350. In the following year he became the all-time world champion in the 350 cm³ class with a KR 350 - the class was no longer advertised after the 1983 season.

technology

engine

Motor of the KR 250

The engine was a water-cooled two-cylinder tandem engine with rotary valve control. Each cylinder had its own crankshaft, which were coupled to one another in opposite directions via spur gear teeth. The two 34-millimeter Mikuni round slide carburetors were mounted on the left side of the housing. On the right crankshaft stub of the front cylinder sat the magneto ignition, on that of the rear the water pump. The multi-disc dry clutch sits on the right of the transmission input shaft, the secondary chain on the left.

landing gear

The double loop frame was welded from steel; the telescopic fork at the front and the two -sided swing arm at the rear led from PVM cast wheels. The rear suspension had a spring strut with a compensating tank, which was linked by a rocker. Due to the low weight of the vehicle, a single-disc brake system on the front and rear wheel was sufficient.
