The Kawasaki 1400 GTR is a sports touring motorcycle from the Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki .
properties
The 1400 GTR is the successor to the Kawasaki GTR 1000 and was offered in Europe from 2007 to 2016. The Kawasaki 1400 GTR is offered as Concours 14 on the US market . Both the gimbal system with Tetra Lever -Momentabstützung and a modern engine management (based on the motor of the ZZR 1400 included). Variable control of the intake camshaft form the performance characteristics of this motorcycle. In addition, a key system called "KIPASS" has been integrated, in which the key can remain in the motorcycle and the motorcycle can only be started or the key can only be removed if a special transponder is within reach. The 1400 GTR also has an anti-hopping clutch , electrically adjustable windshield, standard case system, tire pressure monitoring system , ABS , hazard warning lights and a 12 V connection. The 6th gear of this motorcycle is designed similar to an overdrive transmission with a long gear ratio to keep the revs low at high speeds. Therefore, the top speed is reached in 5th gear. In gears 1 to 4, the power is electronically reduced to increase drivability.
Model upgrade 2010 (ZGT40C)
From the beginning of 2010, the 1400 GTR was offered revised under the type designation ZGT40C. Changes:
- Electronically controlled traction control (Kawasaki KTRC)
- Larger windshield (7 cm higher and wider)
- Raised rear-view mirrors
- modified cladding with much larger air outlet ducts
- Heated handlebar grips , selectable in three stages
- Combined braking system with K-ACT ABS with two modes that can be switched by the driver.
- Petrol- saving mode with ECO display (switchable mapping of the intake manifold injection ) to drive normally or in a petrol-saving manner (Fuel Economy Assistant Mode). Here the mixture is set to be much leaner.
- Outside temperature display in the on-board computer
- Heat shield on the exhaust manifold
- On-board computer mode switching on the handlebar (previously only switchable on the on- board computer in the front of the dashboard using two buttons)
- KIPASS key in credit card format
- Previous tank compartment painted without replacement, instead two hooks for attaching a tank bag system
- Electrically lockable compartment in the left side panel that cannot be opened while driving
Facelift 2015 (ZGT40E)
For the 2015 model year, the 1400 GTR received a revised windshield, a modified seat and a differently tuned ABS. The first gear was 6% shorter. The curb weight was reduced by 7 kg.
Cessation of sales in Europe
The Euro 4 emissions standard , which became binding for existing motorcycle vehicle types on January 1, 2017, is not met by the 1400 GTR. Thus, the 2016 model year was the last model offered in the European Union.
equipment
Kawasaki offers a wide range of model-specific accessories for the 1400GTR, including inner case bags, top cases, navigation device holders, larger windshields, etc.
1400GTR Grand Tourer
The equipment variant "1400 GTR Grand Tourer" contains inner case pockets, top case, navigation device holder and various foils for scratch protection.
