The FJR 1300 is a motorcycle from the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha .
The Sporttourer was introduced in 2001 and established with a capacity of initially 105.5 kW (143.4 PS ) and a torque of 134.4 Nm at 7000 min -1 , the new segment of the power touring within the class of touring . The allocation to sports tourers (high engine power) or classic tourers (rather moderate lean angle) is still a matter of dispute among experts and fans.
The FJR 1300 has been a seven-time (series) winner in the MOTORRAD magazine's “Motorcycle of the Year” readers' poll , and in 2008 it did not win for the first time. The sales name FJR stands for the English name Fast Journey and Ride .
Similar models are Kawasaki 1400 GTR , BMW K 1600 GT , Triumph Trophy , Moto Guzzi Norge 1200 .
Facelift
RP 04
The original FJR, sometimes unofficially referred to as 'Classic', had the factory code RP04.
- 2001: FJR 1300 (RP 04) Colors: SilverMetallic (SM1), DeepPurplishBlueMetallicC (DPBMC), Black2 (BL2)
- 2002: FJR 1300 (RP 04) Colors: SilverMetallic (SM1), DeepPurplishBlueMetallicC (DPBMC), DullRedMetallicD (DRMD)
Worldwide it was only available without an anti-lock braking system (ABS), which is why it had a smaller brake disc diameter (v: 2 × 298 mm, h: 1 × 282 mm) and the lowest weight at 268 kg. Apart from the color, the RP04s are visually recognizable by the front indicators that are detached from the fairing and a flatter windshield.
RP 08
From 2003 FJR 1300 in Germany were only delivered with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) (abbreviation 'A' for RP 08 and '/ A' for RP 11).
- 2003: FJR 1300 A (RP 08) Colors: SilverStorm (BS4), GalaxyBlue (DPBML), TechnoJade (BNM3)
Compared to the RP04, the weight increases by approx. 14 kg due to the ABS components, the front brake disc diameter increases to 320 mm. Slightly modified spring elements increase the lean angle moderately, and the windshield is improved by a slightly larger and steeper windshield. There is space for a 1-liter storage compartment in the left-hand interior trim, the front indicators are now integrated into the trim. The accessibility of the headlight range control is slightly improved. Theft security is increased by a standard immobilizer system .
RP 11
From model year 2004 the side cases were part of the standard equipment and a new fuel pump was installed.
- 2004: FJR 1300 / A (RP 11) Colors: SilverStorm (BS4), GalaxyBlue (DPBML), TechnoJade (BNM3)
- 2005: FJR 1300 / A (RP 11) Colors: SilverStorm (BS4), GalaxyBlue (DPBML), Metallic Silver (SM1)
RP 13
From 2006 (Model RP13) there is an additional AS version (Automatic Shift): The Yamaha Chip Controlled-Shift system (YCC-S), a semi- automatic gearbox with automatic clutch system has electronically controlled controls for clutch operation and gear changes.
- 2006: FJR 1300 A / AS (RP 13) Colors: SilverStorm (BS4), Ocean Depth (DPBMU), Desert Metallic (YNM9)
- 2007: FJR 1300 A / AS (RP 13) Colors: SilverStorm (BS4), Ocean Depth (DPBMU), RedSky (DNRM3)
In the 2006 model year, the heated grips were standard equipment on the AS model, and from 2007 on both models.
The appearance of the machine is slightly changed by omitting two bars in the fairing, the wheelbase is increased by extending the rear swing arm from 1515 mm to 1550 mm. A compound brake system is used as standard, which also acts on two of the four pistons of the front right brake disc when the rear brake is actuated. The height of the driver's seat can be adjusted upwards and the paneling can be locked in two positions to dissipate waste heat from the engine. The height of the handlebar is now adjustable and the adjustment range of the windshield is increased. The cockpit is being completely redesigned.
- 2008: FJR 1300 A / AS (RP13A) Colors: Silver Tech (S3), Graphite (DNMG), Midnight Black (SMK)
From model year 2008 a new three-stage ABS system with a solenoid valve system will be installed.
- 2009: FJR 1300 A (RP 13 A) Colors: Sunset Silver (LYNM9), Smokey Gray (DNMA), Midnight Black (SMK)
- 2009: FJR 1300 AS (RP 13 A) Colors: Silver Tech (S3), Graphite (DNMG), Midnight Black (SMK)
In 2009, Yamaha in Germany only sold the 2009 version of the "A" models, while the "AS" stocks from 2008 will be canceled. Therefore the "AS" is only available in the colors and technology of the previous year. The improvement of the YCC-S system made for the 2009 AS does not benefit buyers in Germany.
- 2010: FJR 1300 A (RP 13 A) Colors: Sunset Silver (LYNM9), Smokey Gray (DNMA), Midnight Black (SMK)
- 2010: FJR 1300 AS (RP 13 A) Colors: Silver Tech (S3), Graphite (DNMG), Midnight Black (SMK)
In 2010 there are no changes compared to the previous year.
- 2011: FJR 1300 A (RP 13 A) Colors: Silver Tech (S3), Midnight Black (SMK)
In 2011 there are no changes compared to the previous year. The AS is no longer offered.
- 2012: FJR 1300 A (RP 13 A) Colors: Silver Tech (S3), Midnight Black (SMK)
In 2012 there are no changes compared to previous years.
RP 23
- 2013: FJR 1300 A (RP 23) Colors: Magnetic Bronze (VDOM1), Midnight Black (SMK), Frosted Blade (YNM5)
- 2013: FJR 1300 AS (RP 23) Colors: Magnetic Bronze (VDOM1), Midnight Black (SMK)
The FJR has been revised for the 2013 model year, the AS is back in the range. New to both models are:
- electronic throttle control ( Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle, YCC-T )
- Traction control (TCS), can be switched off
- Cruise control
- Yamaha D-Mode System (two riding modes: Sport and Touring)
- revised fork (with progressive springs and firmer damping)
- revised shock absorber (with higher spring rate and firmer damping)
- Cockpit and operating concept
- aerodynamically optimized fairing
- additional 3 HP through optimized catalytic converters.
The AS, which will be available from spring 2013, has an upside-down telescopic fork and 84-way electronically adjustable spring elements in addition to the improved automatic gearshift (YCC-S).
The FJR 1300 has been available as an AE model since autumn 2013. In addition to the basic version, it has electronically adjustable spring elements and an upside-down fork.
RP 28
- 2016: FJR 1300 A (RP 28) Colors: Tech Graphite, Matt Silver
- 2016: FJR 1300 AS (RP 28) Colors: Tech Graphite, Matt Silver
- 2016: FJR 1300 AE (RP 28) Colors: Tech Graphite, Matt Silver
