The KLV 1000 is a motorcycle in the travel enduro category from the Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki, with which Kawasaki is offering a large travel enduro for the first time. However, the motorcycle was created through a cooperation with Suzuki and is identical to the Suzuki DL 1000 V-Strom . The KLV 1000 is actually manufactured at Suzuki and rolls off the assembly line there; Suzuki is specified as the manufacturer even in the KLV's vehicle registration document.

Changes to the DL 1000 include a different front mask , a different windscreen and the rear fender made of matt plastic, which the KLV 1000 has; the DL 1000 is painted in the same color as the motorcycle. In addition, the KLV has a small chrome strip in the form of a V in the mask between the headlights. The KLV was only available in a striking orange, which optically set it apart from the Suzuki DL 1000 V-Strom, which was not offered in this color. Likewise, the instruments of the KLV have chrome rings and are illuminated in green instead of matt-gray instrument rings and yellow lighting as with the V-Strom.

The KLV 1000 was sold at Kawasaki in 2004 and 2005.

The KLV 1000 was the only Kawasaki with a regulated catalytic converter until then; Thanks to Suzuki. The long-geared sixth gear is designed as "overdrive" and thus lowers engine speed and fuel consumption. The telescopic fork and central spring strut can also be adjusted to different loads, so that the chassis is not overwhelmed even in two-person operation. The screen, which can be adjusted in three positions, allows the windshield to be adapted to the size of the driver. The identical Suzuki V-Strom, however, had no adjustable windscreen.
