The Wendler company was a German cartwright and body manufacturer in Reutlingen .

description

The company was opened by Erhard Wendler in 1840 as a car factory. Initially, he manufactured carriages, and from the beginning of the 1920s also bodies for cars . The designer Helmut Schwandner initiated the reorientation. Around 60 superstructures were still being built in the 1920s; there were 250 to 270 units in the 1930s. The workforce consisted of about 100 employees. One of the customers in 1937 was the architect Wilhelm Ritter von Graf .

After the Second World War , Wendler resumed the production of car bodies, which were now made in the modern pontoon shape . Until the end of the 1950s, there was still series production, then the focus was mainly on repairs.

Later on, the company dealt with classic car restorations and special bodies for armored limousines .

Wendler became insolvent in 2000. The company continued to operate under the name Pgam AG until it was finally closed.
