The residential building Werderstraße 138 in Heilbronn is a listed building that was built in 1906 according to the plans of the architects Emil Beutinger and Adolf Steiner from Heilbronn.

Location and surroundings

The building is located on Werderstrasse, which formerly formed the central axis of the historic workers' residential area at Heilbronn Südbahnhof . The quarter was designed by Reinhard Baumeister in 1873 when he was drafting his city plan for Heilbronn. Traffic on Werderstrasse was calmed down between 1977 and 1981.

The building was built for Karl Geiger, August Stadtler and Eugen Walz, who were workers at the Heilbronn silver goods factory in Bruckmann . The house could be considered modern and progressive at the time; baths were already being built in at that time. In the design of the facade, historical decorative elements were largely dispensed with; some windows are decorated with geometrical decorations. Connections to the home style show the integrated in the wall surface of the polygonal bay and the verschindelte gable wall.

In 1950 the house was owned by the heirs of Eugen Walz. Margarete Gruber's grocery store was on the ground floor. In 1961 the house came into the possession of the Zweygarth siblings and the grocery store still existed.
