WerkstattGeschichte (own spelling WERKSTATT HISTORY ) is a German-language specialist history journal that has been published three times a year since 1992. Each issue focuses on a thematic focus from the early modern period to the 20th century, with the focus on publications on the time of National Socialism , imperialism and colonialism, as well as cultural and everyday history . In addition to the essays on the main topic, each issue contains book reviews on new publications in historical studies.

The journal is published by the Association for Critical Historiography eV without university affiliation and is published by Transcript Verlag. It emerged from the journal Geschichtswerkstatt , which was published by the Geschichtswerkstatt eV between 1983 and 1992 and was published by various publishers. It comes from the history workshops movement of the 1980s, which was closely related to the focus on micro and everyday history topics.
