Werner Momberg

Werner Momberg (* 1952 ) is a German defense lawyer from Kassel.

Life

Momberg grew up in Othmarschen as the son of a law professor and a district court director. He studied law at the Universities of Lyon, Tübingen and Hamburg. He has been working as a lawyer in Kassel since 1994 and has specialized in criminal defense. He has assisted numerous prominent clients as defense attorney or joint plaintiff representative and has also made a name for himself through retrial proceedings. His clients included people from contemporary history such as Markus Wolf , Marion Gräfin Dönhoff , Karl Koch, Peter-Jürgen Boock, Wolf Biermann , Gregor Gysi, Jan Philipp Reemtsma , Barbara Wussow, Thomas Springstein and the former VW works council chairman Klaus Volkert . He is considered a particularly aggressive and contentious defender.

In 2005, Momberg defended Armin Meiwes , also known as the cannibal von Rotenburg, who had been accused of murder before the Frankfurt Regional Court , after he had previously commented on the trial. The trial against Meiwes ended with a sentence of 8 years and 6 months. The judgment has been final since October 7, 2006.
