Weronika Igorewna Skworzowa ( Russian Вероника Игоревна Скворцова ; born November 1, 1960 in Moscow ) is a Russian doctor and politician. She was Minister of Health of the Russian Federation from May 21, 2012 to January 21, 2020.

Skvortsova studied medicine at the Moscow Medical Institute , where she also received her doctorate in 1988. Since 1997 she has held a professorship for neurology and neurosurgery . In 1999 she co-founded the Russian Association against Stroke (Национальная ассоциация по борьбе с инсультом), she is also a member of the Board of Directors of the World Stroke Organization .

In July 2008 Skvortsova was appointed Deputy Minister of Health and Social Affairs and since May 21, 2012 she has been Minister of Health in the Government of the Russian Federation .

In July 2012, statements by Skworzowa on the subject of homosexuality were reproduced in German-language media . Then she said that homosexuality was "partly a disease". Homosexual persons should not be discriminated against, but "the younger generation should be protected from the pathological representatives of homosexualism".
