Weru , founded in 1843, is a manufacturer of windows and doors in Germany. Weru primarily develops, produces and sells windows and doors made of plastic and aluminum and other related products, primarily for private housing and the renovation market. The company has production facilities at its headquarters in Rudersberg near Stuttgart and in Triptis ( Thuringia ). The company employs around 1000 people. With around 460,000 windows and 14,300 doors annually, Weru is one of the largest window manufacturers in Europe. Its customers include over 800 authorized dealers.

The name Weru is an acronym for " W illy E ppensteiner, Ru dersberg" - Willy Eppensteiner managed the company from 1935 onwards.

The company was founded in 1843 by Christian Friedrich Eppensteiner. From 1935 onwards, roller shutters were made, first from wood, from 1960 from plastic. In 1979 the production of aluminum house doors began. In 1989 the company was converted to a stock corporation . In 1991, shortly after Germany's reunification , the Triptis plant was built. In 1995 the British window and door manufacturer Caradon acquired 43% of the shares in Weru. Over the years Caradon increased its stake in Weru to 94%; In 1999 it sold this to the European investment company Triton , which was Weru's sole shareholder from 2006 .

In 2012 the name was changed to a GmbH . 2013 acquired HIG Europe, the European arm of the oriented medium-sized enterprises investment company HIG Capital, Weru of Triton. In March 2014 Weru took over its competitor Unilux AG - just three months after the acquisition by HIG Europe. In 2015 the Weru Group bought Schneeberger Bauelemente Potthoff GmbH (SBP) based in Crimmitschau, which specializes in the delivery and assembly of high-quality doors, windows and roller shutters .
