Wesley Rose

Wesley Rose (born February 11, 1918 in Chicago , Illinois , † April 26, 1990 in Nashville , Tennessee ) was an American manager in the music industry, publishing director and record producer .

Life

Wesley Rose was born in Chicago as the son of songwriter Fred Rose . In 1945 he joined the Acuff-Rose music publisher in Nashville , Tennessee , which his father and his partner Roy Acuff had founded. After his father's death, Wesley became president of the company.

Rose was a major contributor to the development of the country music industry in the United States: He was a driving force behind the founding of the Country Music Association (CMA) and was the first Nashville publisher to serve on the board of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers ( ASCAP) and the Music Publishers Association .

In the late 1950s to 1961, Rose was the manager of the Everly Brothers .

In 1985 Rose and Roy Acuff sold the Acuff Rose catalog to the Gaylord Broadcasting Company . In 1986, like his father, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame .

Wesley Rose died in Nashville in 1990.
