The west-yugurische language also Yohur called (own name: Yogïr lar = "yugurische language", Chinese西部裕固语XIBU Yùgùyǔ ) is a Turkic language , living in the Autonomous County Sunan of Yugur (肃南裕固族自治县Sunan Yùgùzú Zizhixian ) in the northwestern Gansu Province in the People's Republic of China . Sarygh Uyghur, Sarı Uyğur, Sarı Yoğur, Yáohū'ěr, Yùkù and Yùgù are also known as alternative names . The terms Sarığ Yoğur tili ( Yellow-Uighur language), Sarığ Yoğur and Sarı Uygurca (Gel-Buigur) and Sarı Uygur Türkçesi ( Yellow- Uygur Turkish) have also been handed down through Turkish Turkology .

Number of speakers and area of ​​distribution

In the census of the year 1990 6,150 or 50% said the Yugur Western Yugur language as a mother tongue to. In the meantime their share has probably shrunk to around a third. Another third of the Yugur speak Engger, a Mongolian language .

The West Yugurian language is related to the Siberian Turkic languages . Like this, the West Yugur language has retained various ancient characteristics. But it was influenced secondarily by the Karluk or southeast group of the Turkic languages. In some cases, West Yugur is even assigned to the Southeast group.

An early form of West Yugur or closely related is Altuigur , which also belongs to the Siberian branch and is not a direct predecessor of the so-called modern Uyghur , which belongs to the southeast branch.
