West End Frame Awards

The West End Frame Awards are a series of awards given to London theaters by the West End Frame theater website. The prizes differ from other prizes in the theater sector in that they are only awarded in one category within a period of time thanks to an open vote. During the course of 2012, theater fans were z. B. called for voting in 7 categories. In 2012, the nominees with well-known profiles included B. Kerry Ellis , Jodie Prenger, Rob Brydon, and Lee Mead. The winners included Shayne Ward for "Best West End Debut" and Daniel Buckley for "Funniest Performance in a West End Show".

In 2013, prizes were again awarded in several categories, some of which were newly introduced and others had been awarded earlier. These included the categories "Best Jukebox musical ", "Best Performance of a Song in a Musical", "Understudy Of The Year" and "Best West End Debut".

A full list of nominees for the Understudy of the Year award was published on May 15, 2013. The voting began on Thursday, May 16, and lasted 6 weeks, so it was considerably longer than the voting for "Best Jukebox musical" and "Best Performance of a Song in a Musical", which each only took place over a period of time ran for 2 weeks. Ashley Dan won the "Understudy of the Year" award for "The Book of Mormon".

In August 2013 Zrinka Cvitešić won the "Best West End Debut" for her performance in Once and in October Sion Daniel Young won the award for "Best Dramatic Performance" for his performance in War Horse . Avenue Q 's Upstairs at the Gatehouse's production won the "London Fringe Production of the Year" award in December 2013. At the end of the year, two more awards with the additional designation "Editor's Choice" were introduced, once the American composer Scott Alan in in the Theatrical Event of the Year category for its concert at IndigO2 , and then the Menier Chocolate Factory production of The Color Purple which won the Show of the Year category.

In March 2014, the first prize of that year was The Book of Mormon in the "Funniest West End Show" category. The West End production of Les Misérables won a West End Frame Award for the first time in May 2014, which the ensemble member Tam Mutu received in the category "Best Performance of a Song in a Musical".

The prize in the "Understudy Of The Year" category was also awarded for the third time in 2014. Voting started on Friday June 6th and lasted through Wednesday July 16th.
