Western is a district of the Republic of Malta . It belongs to the Malta Majjistral region (north-west Malta).

The district has an area of ​​72.85 km² and as of December 31, 2010 58,121 inhabitants. This results in a population density of 798 inhabitants per km².

The Western District consists of ten parishes. The municipality with the most inhabitants is Żebbuġ , followed by Attard and Siġġiewi . The municipality with the fewest inhabitants is Mdina . The largest in terms of area is Rabat , followed by Siġġiewi and Żebbuġ. The smallest municipality in area is Balzan .
