Westley Allan Dodd (born July 3, 1961 in Toppenish , Washington , † January 5, 1993 in Walla Walla , Washington ) was an American serial killer .

Life

Dodd was arrested in 1989 after trying to kidnap a 6-year-old boy from a movie theater toilet. During police interrogation, he was linked to three sex murders in Washington state, which he eventually confessed to. Dodd had raped and stabbed the brothers Cole (10) and William Neer (11) in September 1989 . A month later, he strangled four-year-old Lee Iseli after Dodd sexually abused and tortured him. He hung the child's body in a wardrobe.

After his arrest, police found photos of his victims in Dodd's apartment, as well as a diary in which he had recorded his crimes and made horrific plans for the torture of other victims.

Dodd had a relevant criminal record. He had molested children from the age of 13.

Dodd later described himself as an incurable culprit who left the state with no option but to execute him. Even in an interview shortly before his execution , Dodd himself left no doubt about his dangerousness: If I ever come out again, I will murder again, I will rape again and I will enjoy every minute of it.

Dodd made up his mind to die like his last victim, by hanging . This made him the first person since 1965 to be hanged in the United States .
