West Papuan languages
The West Papua languages are spoken in West New Guinea and the Moluccas ( Indonesia ). They belong to the Papuan languages . The language family includes 27 languages.

The distribution area of the West Papua languages includes the Halmahera Islands and most of the Vogelkop Peninsula of New Guinea . The numerically strongest languages are Tidore (on the island of Tidore and the surrounding area) with 26,000 speakers, Tobelo with 24,000 speakers and Galela with 22,000 speakers.
