Wete is a city in Tanzania and, along with Chake-Chake, is one of the two largest cities on the island of Pemba, part of the state of Zanzibar . Wete is the central administrative center of the Pemba Kaskazini region . The city is about 20 kilometers north of Chake-Chake.

The meeting building of the Parliament of Zanzibar is located in Wete (used for meetings on the island of Pemba). Wete has a small port, which is of more local importance (including a ferry connection to Fundo Island ), but is also used by smaller motor ships or dhows to the mainland ( Tanga , Mombasa ). The main port of Pemba is in the south of the island in the town of Mkoani .

Wete owns a hospital.
