Fundo is one of the larger islands of Zanzibar . The 9 km long and 1 km wide island is surrounded by a coral reef . Together with Njao immediately to the north, as well as other islands, the island forms a natural protection for the port of Wete , which is six kilometers to the east.
The island's inhabitants make their living from fishing and wood processing.
