White Castle Fort

White Castle Fort (also called White Castle Hill fort, Nunraw or White Hill) is an Iron Age hill fort in the Lammermuir Hills , above the stream "Thorter burn" near Garvald (Gaelic Garbh Allt ) in East Lothian in Scotland .

The approximately oval plant of approximately 71.0 × 56.0 m with triple wall is located at the Mid Hill, near the road, the east of Edinburgh to Whiteadder reservoir performs and "Packman's Grave". White Hill Fort is a good example of a hill fort with impressive ramparts and moats. The complex was examined archaeologically and geophysically between 2010 and 2013, including the foundations of 16 huts.

Individual evidence

  1. Position five small stones (two pointed at the end), each about 45 cm high, surrounding an area about 2.8 m long and 1.35 m wide. The place is known as the grave of a Packman who was murdered by an innkeeper from Danskine.
