White Cube Gallery Novosibirsk

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The White Cube Gallery Novosibirsk was the first and, when it was founded in 2008, the only center for contemporary art in Siberia in the form of a sheet metal garage. It was created by the Viennese artist Lukas Pusch and his Siberian colleague Konstantin Skotnikov The Blue Noses Group . The gallery was an exhibition space and a ready-made sculpture in one and was originally located in the center of Novosibirsk . Dozens of exhibitions and performances by Siberian artists took place in the gallery. In 2009 Lukas Pusch mounted the gallery sculpture on the loading area of a ZIL-130 and organized traveling exhibitions in the Russian-Mongolian border area and was awarded as the best work in the Public Art category at the art biennial in Krasnoyarsk .

In 2010, the Siberian Center of Contemporary Art, the first state center for contemporary art, was opened and the White Cube Gallery Novosibirsk was set up in front of the entrance to the new museum. In 2012 Lukas Pusch was invited by Daniel Hug to present his White Cube Gallery in front of the main entrance of ART Cologne. In 2013 the White Cube Gallery was a central part of Lukas Pusch's exhibition "Art Discourse with a Siberian Cow" in the New Paffenhofen Art Association.
