Seen in the direction of flow, the gorge begins at Tucker's Pool , a water-filled basin not far from Lydford Castle . The stream initially runs with a slight gradient until it plunges several meters down at the level of the upper visitor center in the Devil's Cauldron , a series of waterfalls and pools .

The Tunnel Falls waterfalls are roughly halfway through the gorge, which is mostly just a few meters wide . Near the lower visitor parking lot at the end of the accessible part is the White Lady waterfall , with which the River Burn falls about 30 m deep into the River Lyd.

particularities

Due to the narrow path in sections, the circular route is designated as a "one-way street". If you start at the lower entrance, the path leads past the "White Lady", initially upstream at the level of the stream, while the way back is less strenuous along the upper edge of the gorge. There are significant tourist facilities only at the upper visitor center.
