Whitebock index

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Whitebock index is a diagnostic EKG symbol for right ventricular hypertrophy (enlargement) of the heart muscle and is determined using Einthoven's limb leads . The sign is relatively insecure, but can be used as a hint. The suspicion can be supported by a positive Sokolow-Lyon index .

The index for the enlargement of the right heart is calculated using the following formula based on the amplitude heights in mV:

R I + S I - R III

If the value is less than or equal to - 1.4 mV, right ventricular hypertrophy can be assumed.
