Whitehouse is a British power electronics band founded in 1980 by William Bennett . Whitehouse are known for their extreme music collages, usually referred to as noise by many non-fans, and extreme lyrics that deal with mass murderers, rape and the like. Come was the predecessor band of Whitehouse, from the time also came the label Come Org , on which the Whitehouse cassettes were initially sold.

history

The 1981 album Erector is considered the first power electronics album.

Whitehouse and the associated label Come Org were dissolved in 1984 after nine albums were released and collaborations with Nurse with Wound and other bands had taken place. In 1990 the reunion took place and the label Susan Lawly was founded at the same time .

William Bennett chose the name Whitehouse after a pornographic magazine and Mary Whitehouse , who fought against pornography.

In addition to William Bennett, Philip Best , who ran away from home when he was 14 to listen to a Whitehouse concert, is currently a member of the group.

Other members included Kevin Tomkins , who played with Paul Taylor in the band Sutcliffe Youth , and writer Peter Sotos , who was the first person convicted in the United States of possessing child pornography. Well-known producer Steve Albini also participated in Whitehouse.

Some of the albums were designed by the artist Trevor Brown.
