Whitstable is a place on the north coast of the English county of Kent . It belongs to the City of Canterbury County . The place is particularly important because of its fishing port and oyster trade. From 1830 there was a direct rail link to Canterbury, ten kilometers to the south, with the Canterbury – Whitstable line for 120 years . Whitstable also has a population of 32,000.

The actor Peter Cushing spent his old age in the village.
