The Widukindmuseum Enger is a museum in the town of Enger in the Herford district , in which the history of the Saxon Duke Widukind as well as legends about his life and that of his descendants are presented. The museum is housed in an old hall house . It was founded in 1938 and reopened on August 20, 2006 after a planning and renovation phase of around five years. The museum is located in the immediate vicinity of the Engeraner Stiftskirche . Since the reopening, the museum has been equipped with an audio guidance system and multimedia.

On the ground floor of the building there is a historical depiction of Widukind's time. One department each is devoted to the Saxon Wars and the incorporation of Saxony into the Frankish Empire. Furthermore, the question of whether Widukind is buried in the collegiate church Enger is investigated. The excavation findings of the graves from the choir of the collegiate church with three skeletons have been reproduced in the museum. There is also a modern anthropological research laboratory where visitors can gain insight into the analysis of historical DNA at various stations .

The changes in how the Widukind figure was dealt with and the image that prevailed of him over the years are presented on the first floor. Among other things, the dealings with the person of Widukind at the time of National Socialism are dealt with.

The top floor of the house is used for temporary exhibitions.
