The Viennese flying goose , formerly known as the Viennese blue goose dolphin, are one of the oldest variants of the Viennese flying pigeon ( Wiener Hochflieger ). "Gansel" or "Gansl" is the common expression in Vienna for the goose . The name of the short-beaked Vienna pigeon race has the drawing of the Pied Pomeranian Goose out of their coloration recalls. The long history of this breed is well documented with stuffing preparations in the Natural History Museum Vienna . The collection contains specimens that Emperor Franz I owned.
