Vienna living room opera

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vienna Living Room Opera ( WWO for short ) is a mobile opera house that has existed since 2010 and mainly plays short operas. With the basic concept of reviving the tradition of classical house music, it plays on private and public spaces and makes them accessible as an opera theater.

repertoire

The Viennese living room opera started with a production of Gian Carlo Menotti's opera The Telephone by Nestroy Theater Prize winner Nikolaus Habjan . The program includes classics of short opera literature such as La serva padrona or Der Schauspieldirektor and modern Bach cantatas such as Schweigt stille, nicht chattert (BWV 211), which are also shown in guest performances on small domestic and foreign stages. In 2016, the Vienna Living Room Opera was invited to the 250 years Swiss Mozartweg ceremony, and in 2017 the Salzburg Festival opened with a production by Sigrid Tschiedl . The sister project Soffoperan , founded on the Viennese model, will start in Sweden in 2018 . Prominent guests were Senka Brankovic, Alexander Puhrer , Nikolaus Habjan and Laszlo Gyuker .
