Wiffen are shipping signs for inland shipping , which mark the fairway in a body of water. A wharf consists of a pole on which a green and white signal (shipping sign D.2) is mounted. The green side marks the fairway. Wiffen on Lake Constance , in the Seerhein and in the Upper Rhine between Stein am Rhein and Schaffhausen are used .

In order not to get in the way of the scheduled ships, boats with little draft such as B. Weidlinge or rubber dinghies must be driven on the white side and keep a safe distance from the cliffs.
