The Wiki Mode was developed in 2001 by Alex Schröder and is a mode that enables the editing of websites with Emacs in the style of wikis .
In addition to the Wiki Mode, there is also John Wiegley's Emacs Wiki Mode , which is based on it. Michael Olson has been maintaining Emacs Wiki Mode since September 7, 2004 .
The Simple Mode Wiki by Alex Schroeder was originally only for editing Wiki source code intended, but has now blossomed into a serious competitor of the other two modes for Wikitexte. The Simple Wiki Mode is part of http-emacs.
The Wiki Mode has many uses:
- It is used to manage link collection.
- It facilitates the maintenance and design of the website .
- It can be used as a backend for planners.
- With the help of additional software it is suitable for the administration of a weblog .
