Wilby Lucas

Michel Wilby Lucas (born January 5, 1956 ) is a politician of the People's Party (Parti Lepep) of the Seychelles , who was Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly between 2007 and 2011 .

Life

Lucas was after school education staff in the office of the Director of Public accusations in Mauritius and began his political career in 1991 in the then Unity Party Seychelles People's United Party (SPUP), whose chairman he became in Baie Lazare. At the same time, 1991 became chairman of the district council of Baie Lazare. He also completed a law degree at the University of East London (UEL), which he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1998 . He completed a subsequent course at Holborn College in London in 1999 with a qualification as a barrister and in May 1999 was admitted to the bar ( Inns of Court ) of Middle Temple . After returning to the Seychelles in 2001, he started working as a lawyer.

In the 2007 elections he was elected for the first time as a member of the National Assembly for the progressive front of the Seychelles People (SPPF) in the constituency of Baie Lazare, which emerged from the SPUP . At the same time he became deputy speaker of the National Assembly and thus representative of the President of Parliament Patrick Herminie . In the 2011 elections he was re-elected for the SPPF, renamed Parti Lepep , in the constituency of Baie Lazare , but gave up the post of deputy spokesman for the National Assembly to Andre Pool .
