Wilde (Province of Buenos Aires)
Wilde is a city in the Argentine administrative structure a Localidad (district), in the Partido Avellaneda , which is in the southern metropolitan area of Buenos Aires in Argentina .
With 65,881 inhabitants (as of 2001) Wilde is the most populous city of the Partidos. It goes back to an estancia built by Luis Gaitán in 1600 . The first curing plant in Argentina is said to have opened here shortly after the War of Independence . In 1888, Eduardo Wilde gave the city its current name in honor of the social commitment of his uncle José Antonio Wilde (1813–1887). In 1885 a station of the Buenos Ayres Great Southern Railway company was opened.
In Wilde, value was traditionally placed on upscale residential development. Local architects developed the city into a recreational area for city dwellers. Parklands were created on former farmland and wealthy citizens built their weekend houses here . In the east of Wilde there are sandy beaches on the Río de la Plata , but without official bathing. On days with clear weather, the visitor can see as far as Uruguay .
Between 1930 and 1960, the rapidly growing city experienced a wave of immigration from Europe . Therefore, Wilde is still a multilingual city and is home to various bilingual schools .
