Wilde Rosen is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 42). The work was performed for the first time on August 22, 1847 in the Kwiatkowsky inn near the then Vienna Gloggnitz train station .

Remarks

The first performance of the waltz took place as part of an event to celebrate the rapid development of the expansion of the railway network. It was dedicated to the friend of Johann Strauss Moritz Gottlieb Saphir (1795-1858). Among other things, he was the editor of the magazine Der Humorist . The name of the waltz also goes back to Saphir, who published poems to Hertha under the heading Wilde Rosen since 1834 .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 8 minutes and 26 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
