Wilfried Lankenau

Wilfried Lankenau (* 1949 or 1950) is a German handball player .

Lankenau initially played for the Bremen club TV Mahndorf and was already considered the most successful striker of his club in May 1968 at the age of eighteen in the men's team.

In 1971 he moved from Mahndorf to TV Grambke-Bremen and rose with him to the handball Bundesliga in 1972 . He also played in the German national team .

In 1977, when Grambke had been relegated to the Bundesliga, he went back to his home club in Mahndorf, which had since become part of the SG Bremen-Ost. There he worked as an assistant trainer until at least 2016. The Wilfried Lankenau Cup was named after him.
