Wilfried Porth

Wilfried Porth (born February 2, 1959 in Baden-Baden ) is a German manager . He is the Board Member for Human Resources, Labor Director and responsible for Mercedes-Benz Vans at Daimler AG , as well as a member of the Supervisory Board of VfB Stuttgart .

Life

After graduating from the Hans-Grüninger-Gymnasium in Markgröningen , Porth studied mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart and graduated in 1985 with a degree in engineering .

After completing his studies, he joined what was then Daimler-Benz AG in 1985 . There he worked first as a planning engineer, later as a specialist in the area of ​​central production planning. In 1990 he switched to sales planning as a consultant. In 1991, Porth took over the management of the executive secretariat of the then CEO of Mercedes-Benz AG Werner Niefer . In 1994 he became head of production in the Brazilian bus plant of Mercedes Benz do Brasil, which was closed for economic reasons. In 1997 Porth moved to Mercedes Benz South Africa, where he was responsible for production. In 2000 Porth returned to Germany as Vice President of Executive Development. From 2003 he worked in Japan as CEO of Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation . Back in Germany, from 2006 he was responsible for the management of the Mercedes-Benz van division.

In April 2009 Porth rose to the Board of Management of Daimler AG . There he is responsible for the human resources department. At the same time, he is the company's labor director and responsible for purchasing non-production materials and services. Wilfried Porth is also a member of the supervisory boards of Mercedes-Benz AG and Daimler Truck AG.

Since May 2011 he has chaired the board of the Hanns Martin Schleyer Foundation .

On July 28, 2014, Porth was elected to the supervisory board of the association at the general meeting of VfB Stuttgart .
